Labor Day Festival 2014 – Honoring the Forgotten Hero’s

We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the “Giving back through community event”. The theme for the program is “Honoring the Forgotten Hero’s and Embracing the Future”.

The Tacoma Buffalo Soldiers Museum and the Seattle Sam Bruce Tuskegee Airmen Chapter have partnered for this great event. This event will honor and appreciate our military soldiers past and present.

The goals of this event are:

  • 1. Educate the public about the Buffalo Soldiers and Tuskegee Airmen History.
  • 2. Bring the Black community together.
  • 3. Create awareness of community importance.
  • 4. Honor veterans and active duty personnel.
  • 5. Provide information, education and opportunity through participating
    vendors and agencies.
  • Provide fun activities for all ages.

We welcome you as a community partner to join us in the celebration of those who helped to shape America. The event will kick off with the National Anthem by our famous Seattle Buffalo Soldiers Honor Guards.

Troopers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) will play a softball game in honor of the National Negro League. Retired Air Force Pilot General Mitch Mitchell will deliver the keynote address, “Embracing the Future”.

MultiCare, Inc. will provide information on provide information on medical services to the community. The community will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Sam Bruce Tuskegee Airmen Chapter, Tacoma Buffalo Soldiers Museum, Seattle Horsemen, Veteran’s Assistance Programs and other community agencies with information booths. Community food vendors will have an opportunity to present their cuisine.
